Paris, la ville lumière!

Place de la concorde! This is what the ballet scene in "American Paris" is based off of

And near Place de la concorde and the Tuileries gardens is a museum, Musée de l'Orangerie.
This museum houses 8 of Monet's waterlilies with rooms built especially for them, they're absolutely giant. However I couldn't take any photos so here are some from wikipedia.

Monet and his garden

I could however sneak some pictures of the other art, more impressionism!

AUX CHAMPS ÉLYSÉES! Yes like that song. Or as some of my friends call it "champs a lezez" or "champs ulysses".
The most famous avenue in Paris, with huge stores from brands all over the world as well as restaurants and of course at the end L'Arc de Triomphe.

This sephora was absolutely gigantic, sooo many workers and makeup counters, I didn't know you could have that much in one space.

L'Arc de Triomphe or arch of triumph! Which honors fallen french soldiers from the revolution and Napoleonic wars.

And using our student cards and because of Dr. Reish we got to go to the top! Climbing this skinny little spiral staircase for this gorgeous view.

We attempted to get into the catacombs but it was sadly too late, they also only let in 200 people at a time.
So instead we went to go find Cimetière Père Lachaise! The most famous cemetery in Paris (along with the one in montmartre)

Chopin!

Jim Morrison

Oscar Wilde

As we were raising to find Edith Piaf they had to kick us out because it was closing despite our efforts and sprinting through the grave, but I'm sure I'll be back.

Ate our last dinner all together at Le Polidor! Which had a scene in Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris!

I successfully found a Forever 21 on rue de rivoli. So. Content. It's probably the best one I've ever been in, the H&M was also top notch.

Ah yes, I bought a lock and put it on Pont des arts, for my boyfriend Tim and I! It is truly astounding to see the bridge in person, completely covered in all different kinds of locks from so many people from all over the world.

The Tuileries Gardens!

The Egyptian obelisk, a gift from Egypt

The flame of liberty/flamme de la liberté, full sized replica of the actual one, a symbol of the Franco-Americna alliance/friendship, also a memorial for Princess Dianna as she was killed beneath the pont de L'Alma

Since it was on my list of goals, and since I brought a wwt french club shirt with me I had do! Even though it wasn't at night but it's important to acknowledge where you've come from, something I definitely value! From tower to western to finally "la ville lumière, Paris"

I've never ever loved a city more than I've loved Paris, it was just what I expected and so much more! I got to see soooo many thing I've learned about and wanted to see since forever and that was such a good experience, I'm so thankful that I got to see all the amazing things that I did. Next post concerns euro disney/disneyland paris...
A+, Liz

  1. Everything but the catacombs. You sure squeezed in a lot! I saw you photographed le Baiser par Rodin, too! You can never see everything…..it just makes you yearn to return! Bisous
